Search is on for missing UW professor at Mount Rainier

Mount Rainier National Park authorities were looking for an overdue hiker late Monday evening.

Sam Dubal, 33, was last known to be hiking the Mother Mountain Loop trail out of the Mowich Lake Trailhead.

The park said he began his hike Friday and was due out Saturday.

Dubal is an assistant professor in the anthropology department at the University of Washington in Seattle, according to his UW bio.

Dubal is described as 5-foot 9-inches tall and 155 pounds. He has black hair and a beard. He may have been wearing a blue jacket.

The park urged anyone who may have seen him to call their tip line at 360-569-6684. (NOTE: This number has been changed from an earlier tip line.)
