Couple killed, son in custody in suspected homicide near Maytown

A man and woman were found dead Sunday evening in a home near Maytown in south Thurston County. Thurston County deputies said the couple’s 30-year-old son was arrested on suspicion of their murder.

About 5 p.m., deputies were called to a home in the 13200 block of Maytown Road Southwest to perform a welfare check on the couple who lived there, both of whom were in their 70s. According to a news release from the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, a family member became concerned and called law enforcement when they couldn’t reach the couple.

At the residence, deputies forced entry into the home after seeing through a window that someone was down and not responding. Inside, they found a man and woman who had been killed.

Inside, deputies also found the couple’s 30-year-old son, who was at the home in violation of a no-contact order.

Detectives interviewed the man and found probable cause to arrest him on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder and “other felony charges.”
