Martin previously served as executive vice president and chief operating officer for Verity Credit Union in Seattle, which has $735 million in assets and 37,000 members.

TAPCO Credit Union has assets of $550 million and serves more than 30,000 members with five branches. It recently announced plans for a new branch in Gig Harbor opening early next year at Pioneer Way and Grandview Street.

According to Monday’s announcement, during Martin’s tenure at Verity “he headed numerous transformational initiatives that led to significant growth; helping the credit union more than double in asset size and grow membership by over 45 percent.”

Martin was interviewed in a July 13 article this year by the Credit Union National Association featuring one of Verity’s branches. Martin at that time said Verity was looking to shrink its branches to control costs, citing Seattle’s high-priced real estate market, and also as a result of changing consumer habits during the pandemic.

Martin has served on the Boards of the North Seattle College Foundation, the Seattle Colleges Foundation, and Country Doctor Community Health Centers.

“I am excited to be a part of TAPCO’s vision and mission; serving the community is my passion,” said Martin in TAPCO’s release. “I believe that through embracing the cooperative spirit of credit unions we can drive significant, positive impact in the lives of our members and the greater community, addressing areas of equity and ensuring everyone is able to prosper.”
