Roy man identified in fatal single-car crash on SR 303 in Kitsap County

A 54-year-old man from Roy was killed in a single-car rollover crash Monday morning after his pickup hit a patch of ice on state Route 303 in Silverdale, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Tony Bonner was driving a Ford F-250 south on the highway near Silverdale Way at about 7:17 a.m. when he tried to pass a vehicle and hit the ice patch, according to a WSP news release. The truck struck a barrier and rolled over it, then slid down an embankment onto Silverdale Way, where it stopped.

A 21-year-old Spanaway man in the passenger seat — who troopers said was related to the driver — sustained minor injuries. He transported himself to St. Michael Medical Center.

Troopers said the crash was caused by the driver going too fast for road conditions.

Bonner was declared dead at the scene by medical personnel.

The southbound lane of state Route 303 and all lanes of Silverdale Way were blocked for just over three hours while emergency crews responded to the incident.
