Front door and windows smashed at South Tacoma Library

Tacoma Public Library’s South Tacoma branch is expected to reopen Tuesday for its normal hours after vandalism forced its closure over the weekend.

The South Tacoma Library, 3411 S. 56th St., had its front door and some windows smashed late Friday night.

The damage occurred after hours and no staff were in the building, according to a Tacoma Public Library spokesperson.

The branch closed the following day for repairs.

The Mottet branch of the Tacoma Public Library, 523 E. G St., closed for in-building services in December until March due to safety concerns and “suspected criminal activity.” Curbside library services are still available.
