Firefighters worked early Friday morning to contain a warehouse fire at a building in Lakewood. Damage was contained to the inside of the building, and no one was injured.

Crews from West Pierce Fire & Rescue responded about 12:15 a.m. in the 9200 block of 51st Avenue Southwest. Arriving crews found a large amount of light smoke rising from the building, but no flames were visible.

The building houses OrePac Building Products, a wholesale building materials supplier based in Oregon with locations in several western states. The warehouse was built in 1944 and is 67,000 square feet.

A sprinkler system inside the building activated right away, helping crews contain the blaze, West Pierce Fire & Rescue spokesperson Jenny Weekes said. The fire was under control by about 1:15 a.m.

A photo of the fire showed a large amount of light smoke rising from the building.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
