This portion of the road has two lanes with turn lane pockets at three intersections: 72nd St. E, 80th St. E and 84th St. E. After construction is completed, drivers can expect to see five lanes with two through lanes in both directions as well as a two-way left-turn lane.

A new traffic signal system will be installed at 72nd St. E and 80th St. E to help with the new roadway. Crews will also install street lights, sidewalks as well as a storm drain system.

Crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Traffic may be shifted around the site. Site preparation work will occur through mid-July. Utility relocation work will follow and last until spring 2023. Construction is scheduled to finish by fall 2023.

The state’s transportation improvement board urban arterial program funds, federal surface transportation program funds, and local traffic impact fees are funding the $7.65 million project. Pivetta Brothers Construction is the contractor.
