This Pierce County avenue may get congested. Here’s what you should know
Plan an alternate route or leave earlier — there’s an avenue in Roy that may cause some delays beginning April 11.
Construction crews will resurface a portion of Eighth Avenue East starting from 336th St. E to 288th St. E. Crews will install about 200 feet of guardrail about 400 feet south of 288th St. E. The project area is south of Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. The two-lane avenue may turn into one lane with alternating traffic. Site preparation work will occur the week of April 11, and resurfacing work is expected to begin on April 18.
The project is expected to finish in mid-May, according to Pierce County’s website.
The federal surface transportation program funds and county road funds are paying for the $790,000 project. Puget Paving & Construction Inc. is the contractor.
