Lakewood apartment fire burns unit, displaces resident

Firefighters in Lakewood responded Sunday to an apartment complex fire. Crews said the blaze was contained to one apartment, and it displaced a resident.

One person was injured and transported to an area hospital. The extent of their injuries was not known.

West Pierce Fire & Rescue crews were on the scene at 5:15 p.m. in the 8400 block of Phillips Road Southwest, according to a tweet from the fire department.

Crews described the incident as a bedroom fire. What caused the fire is being investigated.

The Red Cross was notified. In a tweet, the organization said it was aware of one adult who was displaced, and that volunteers were standing by to help as needed.
