Here is a list of some Memorial Day events taking place in the Puget Sound region

Memorial Day is Monday, and there are a number of events across the region to commemorate it. Here are some:

Tacoma Historical Society

Monday, 11 a.m., War Memorial Park in Tacoma

Program includes the All-City Junior ROTC Color Guard, 133rd Band from Washington National Guard and keynote speaker, Tacoma’s Deputy Mayor Catherine Ushka.

Sumner-Bonney Lake VFW Post 3070

Monday, 10 a.m., Sumner Cemetery, 12324 Valley Ave., Puyallup

Local students, scouts and others placed U.S. flags on every veteran grave there Thursday as part of a national day of service.

PUYALLUP MEMORIAL DAY PROGRAM

Sunday, May 29, 1 p.m., Pioneer Park Pavilion

The Clan Gordon Pipe Band will perform an arrangement of “Amazing Grace” before the reading of the names of Puyallup’s fallen and a presentation of wreaths at the military memorial statue in Pioneer Park.

Mountain View Memorial Park

Monday, May 30, 2 p.m., 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood

Event includes keynote address, JBLM Quintet, special reenactment by the Buffalo Soldiers Mounted Cavalry, wreath laying ceremony and presentation of colors.

Wear Blue Run to Remember

Monday, May 30, PowderWorks Park, 1750 Bobs Hollow Lane, DuPont.

3-mile run/walk to honor service members who died in battle. “A Chinook helicopter will land at 8:00 am, transporting US flags for our Gold Star Youth and mentors to run with on that day. At 8:10 am, wear blue merchandise will be sold. The event formally begins at 9:00 am with opening remarks,” according to the event website. Museum of Flight

Monday, 9404 E. Marginal Way S, Seattle

Full schedule: 11 a.m. to noon, Boeing Band performance; noon to 1 p.m., Memorial Day presentation and keynote address; 2-4 p.m., screening of film “To What Remains” with Q&A to follow. All activites are fee with museum admission.
