Woman killed, teen injured in rollover crash on SR 161 in Graham, troopers say

A 35-year-old woman died Monday when she lost control of her SUV on state Route 161 in Graham and the vehicle rolled, left the road and crashed into a ditch, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers said a passenger in the vehicle, a 15-year-old girl, was injured and taken to St. Joseph Medical Center. The woman killed in the crash was identified as Amberlyn Lene of Graham. Neither person was wearing a seat belt.

The incident occurred about 8:22 p.m. on northbound state Route 161 near 200th Street East, according to a WSP news release. Troopers said the vehicle rolled and left the roadway to the right, where it came to a rest on its roof just north of 200th Street East.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the WSP.

It’s not known whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, and troopers said what caused the driver to lose control of the SUV is pending investigation.

The incident blocked all northbound lanes of the highway and a southbound turn lane for about three hours.
