Tacoma firefighters respond to fire at Eastside home

Firefighters with Tacoma Fire Department were called to the scene of a house fire Tuesday morning in the city’s Eastside neighborhood.

Fire crews said no one was injured in the fire, which occurred in the 3400 block of East Portland Avenue. It’s unclear where the fire started in the home. Crews said the cause is being investigated.

Crews were on the scene at 9:43 a.m., according to a tweet from the fire department. The first firefighters to arrive saw heavy smoke coming from the home.

The people in the home evacuated safely, and crews extinguished the flames. It’s unclear how much damage the fire caused. A representative from the fire department wasn’t immediately available to provide further information.
