For Shark Week, Tacoma aquarium releases video of hammerhead feeding time

Shark Week, the Discovery Channel phenomenon that showcases the toothy ocean dwellers, is running this week and the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Tacoma has decided to get in on the movement to showcase the work it does to help protect hammerhead sharks.

While it’s no shark blimp, the zoo released a video showing a feeding at their Baja Bay exhibit inside the Pacific Seas Aquarium.

The aquarium exhibit features several endangered scalloped hammerhead sharks that were acquired from Kaneohe Bay off the Island of Oahu.

The zoo also works with marine biologists to help tag and track hammerheads in Hawaii so that researchers can better understand their movement patterns, behaviors and get a more accurate population count.
