Public event for Tacoma’s Black Lives Matter mural postponed to new date due to heat
An event for the public to add handprints to Tacoma’s Black Lives Matter mural at Tollefson Plaza has been postponed because of the heat advisory in effect in Western Washington.
The event had been scheduled for July 30. Instead, it will be held Aug. 6 from 1-5 p.m., according to the Tacoma Art Museum, which is helping to sponsor the mural.
The mural is a collaboration between the City of Tacoma’s Human Rights Commission and the Tacoma Art Museum and is meant to honor the city’s Black people and the contributions they have made and continue to make, according to city and TAM officials.
