Parts of popular Pierce County park to be closed for kite festival, golf championship

Parts of Chambers Creek Regional Park will be closed Aug. 6-14 for two events.

The Soundview Trail and Central Meadow, which includes the dog park, will close. The North Meadow and Grandview Trail will remain open.

The Pierce County Parks Kite Festival on Aug. 6-7 will include kite demonstrations, family kite flying, inflatables, food trucks and vendors. Admission is $10 per vehicle. Pierce County Kitefliers Association will be giving away 250 kites. Kite kits will also be available for $4 each.

The 2022 U.S. Women’s Amateur Golf Championship will be held Aug. 8-14 at Chambers Bay Golf Course. The public golf course was picked for the second consecutive year to host the championship. The event is free for spectators.

Chambers Creek Regional Park, 6320 Grandview Dr. W., University Place, is a 930-acre site with two miles of saltwater shoreline, two and a half miles of urban creek and canyon, and mountain and Puget Sound views.

The park will host Family Camp Out on Aug. 20 and Chase the Rainbow Run on Aug. 27.
