A man and woman from Orting were hurt and a 63-year-old Spanaway man now faces a possible charge of vehicular assault after he crashed into their motorcycle Saturday afternoon, according to Washington State Patrol.

The Spanaway man is suspected of driving under the influence. He, too, was injured, according to State Patrol.

About 3:30 p.m. Saturday, the Spanaway man was headed north on state Route 7 at 340th Street, which is northwest of Eatonville. Meanwhile, the motorcycle was stopped at the same address.

Troopers say the Spanaway man struck the motorcycle, sending both vehicles into a nearby ditch.

The Orting couple, both in their 50s, and the Spanaway man were taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Tacoma.

Following the wreck, the road was blocked for three hours, according to State Patrol.
