36-year-old Kent resident killed in head-on Orting car crash identified

Jacob Love, a 36-year old man who died after he drove across an Orting street divider and into an oncoming vehicle, was identified by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday.

As Love drove on Orville road last Sunday afternoon, witnesses recalled his vehicle moving erratically, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department. Investigators believe he may have hit a guardrail leading up to the accident.

When Love, who was not wearing a seatbelt, approached the 25000 block of the street, he mishandled a curve and steered directly into a vehicle driven by a 50 year old woman. Love was pronounced dead at the scene, and the woman sustained minor injuries

The examiner’s office lists multiple blunt force injuries as the cause of death. Investigators with the sheriff’s department believe that Love may have been driving under the influence when the crash happened.
