A Lakewood brush fire has shut off traffic along the 11300 block of Pacific Highway Southwest Wednesday afternoon.

The fire was first reported to West Pierce Fire & Rescue around 3:30 p.m., according to department spokesperson Jenny Weekes. Weekes said that as of 4:30 p.m., the fire has burned about three quarters of an acre. Around that time, firefighters on the scene believed that it is fully contained.

No injuries or structural damage have been reported, according to Weekes. She said the department has not yet determined what initially ignited the flames.

The crew will continue to check for additional hot spots, and Weekes said the impacted section of Pacific Highway will remain closed through that process. She expected to the road to reopen by 6:30 p.m.
