Some Tacoma-area schools start late Friday due to icy road conditions
Tacoma’s chilly introduction to December continued Friday morning with icy conditions on some roads. Some Pierce County schools are starting late.
But for Tacoma Public Schools, schools and district offices are operating on a normal schedule. The district said on its Facebook page that its facility and transportation teams have been checking parking lots this morning and preparing buildings for students and staff.
Here’s what other school districts in the county are doing Friday (these are subject to change, so please check with your school district):
- Bethel School District: Two hour late start
- Carbonado School District: Two hour late stat, no early kindergarten
- Clover Park School District: Normal schedule
- Dieringer School District: Normal schedule
- Eatonville School District: Two hour late start, preschool canceled
- Franklin Pierce School District: Two hour late start
- Orting School District: Two hour late start
- Peninsula School District: Normal schedule
- Puyallup School District: Two hour late start
- Steilacoom Historical School District: Two hour late start
- Sumner-Bonney Lake School District: Two hour late start, no AM or PM preschool and no AM ECEAP.
White River School District: Two hour late start, no AM preschool, ECEAP or early kindergarten
What colleges in Pierce County are doing Dec. 2
- Pacific Lutheran University: Campus opens at 10 a.m.
- Tacoma Community College: Three hour late start, campus opens at 11:30 a.m.
