Tacoma woman dies of injuries sustained in King County car crash on I-5 off-ramp

A Tacoma woman died Sunday, more than a week after she crashed her car on an Interstate 5 off-ramp in Federal Way, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The Nov. 25 wreck injured two other people in the woman’s car, both men from Tacoma, state troopers said in a news release. Troopers identified the woman as Ilissa McClure Calcote. She was 37.

Troopers said McClure Calcote was driving south on Interstate 5 and was taking an off-ramp to westbound state Route 18 at about 1:15 a.m. when her 2011 Chrysler 200 veered into the left shoulder and rolled. The vehicle fully blocked the ramp when it stopped, and the car was totaled.

McClure Calcote was injured and transported to Harborview Medical Center. Her passengers, ages 21 and 30, were taken to St. Francis Medical Center to be treated for their injuries. Both passengers were wearing seat belts, and troopers said it’s not known whether the driver was wearing hers.

Troopers said the woman died of her injuries Dec. 4.

It’s unclear what caused the driver to veer off the road. Troopers said the cause of the crash is being investigated.
