Lakewood woman killed in collision Monday on I-90 near North Bend, troopers say

A pedestrian struck and killed by a driver Monday while walking on Interstate 90 near North Bend was from Lakewood, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers said the 33-year-old woman was walking in an interstate lane headed west when a driver in the same lane hit her. It’s unclear why the woman was walking in the roadway. According to a WSP news release, the cause of the collision is under investigation.

The incident was reported at about 9:39 p.m. between North Bend and Preston, about a mile before an interchange to state Route 18.

After the collision, troopers said the driver’s car came to a rest on the left shoulder, and the pedestrian was in the median.

Troopers said the pedestrian was struck by a 27-year-old woman from North Bend driving a 2017 Toyota Yaris. According to the release, troopers don’t believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision. The driver wasn’t injured.
