Crash involving police officer shuts down Pacific Avenue in Tacoma Friday evening
A traffic collision involving a Tacoma police officer shut down Pacific Avenue between South 62nd and South 59th Streets Friday evening.
Tacoma Police spokesperson Wendy Haddow said the officer was headed to a robbery call with lights and a siren on when his patrol vehicle was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of South 60th Street.
The officer was traveling northbound against a red light and the other car was west bound, Haddow said.
The patrol car was pushed into two other cars that were stopped at the intersection. The driver of the westbound car was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
A collision investigation team is on the scene. The intersection reopened just after 7 p.m., Haddow said.
