Another weekend of rain and cool temperatures is expected for the Tacoma area, but it won’t be as wet as last weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The south Puget Sound will continue to see cool and off-and-on wet conditions through next week, NWS Seattle predicted.

Forecasters say April will end with above-normal precipitation and below-normal temperatures. There is a slight risk of heavy precipitation and heavy Cascades snow on April 22 to April 24, NWS predicts.

Going into May, below-normal precipitation may occur, forecasters say.

The NWS Seattle has issued an El Niño Watch, with a 62% chance of conditions developing in May to July and favored to continue into fall and winter. Forecasters say El Niño doesn’t play a strong role in summer months, but often results in warmer than normal conditions in the winter months.

For Saturday, it will be cloudy with a high near 54 degrees in Tacoma. There is a 40% chance of rain, mainly after 1 p.m.

On Sunday, rain is expected with a steady temperature around 48 degrees. Wind gusts could be as high as 21 mph. About a tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible. On Sunday night, showers and a possible thunderstorm is predicted.

On Monday, rain will continue, with a high near 50 degrees and wind gusts as high as 21 mph.

A chance of rain and then showers are likely, with a possible thunderstorm on Tuesday. The high will be near 51 degrees.

On Wednesday, there is a chance of rain, mainly after 11 a.m. It will be mostly cloudy with a high near 52 degrees.

For Thursday and Friday, it will be partly sunny with a chance of rain. Temperatures will hit near 54 degrees on Thursday and 58 degrees on Friday.
