Two Tacoma residents were killed Friday afternoon in a head-on collision on state Route 410, according to the Washington State Patrol. The road was closed in both directions for several hours.

The crash scene was just west of Mud Mountain Road at milepost 38 east of Enumclaw, WSP Trooper Rick Johnson tweeted.

The two people killed, a 36-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman, were in one vehicle. The other driver, its sole occupant, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

“No determination of how this happened at this point,” Johnson said. “No suspected impairment detected.”
