A 37-year-old Lakewood man is facing multiple charges after he rolled a trailer in Kitsap County that was too big for the car he was driving, according to Washington State Patrol.

In addition to improper towing, troopers say he was driving with a suspended license.

About 7:40 p.m. Saturday, the Lakewood man and his passenger, a 29-year-old woman from Oakville in Grays Harbor County, were headed east on state Route 16 at Burley Olalla Road.

Troopers say the Lakewood man was towing a trailer that was too large and heavy for his vehicle’s tow capacity. He then lost control and both the car and trailer rolled onto the side, blocking the eastbound lanes of SR 16.

The man and woman also fled from the scene, but were later located by Washington State Patrol aviation.

The Lakewood man was not injured, but the Oakville woman was hurt and taken to St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor.
