Another Pierce County farmers market opens soon with 70 vendors. Here’s what to expect
It’s that time of year. Lakewood’s seasonal farmers market opens June 6 at Fort Steilacoom Park with a plethora of local produce and goods.
The market will take place every Tuesday until Sept. 19 from 2-7 p.m. and will feature more than 70 vendor and food booths. Lakewood Farmers Market accepts SNAP/EBT benefits.
On opening day you can enjoy live music from Maurese Itson Jazz from 2-4 p.m. and In Cameo Band from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Kids can get their faces painted or make a potato-print painting. There will be lawn games, food trucks and free parking.
If you’re lucky, you could also get a glimpse of Wotan the Fairy Smasher, a 6-foot-7 man with a giant club roaming the market.
Peruse farm-to-table produce from vendors like Amador Farms, Brothers Farms and Doug McDonald Farms. Hayton Farms and Sidhu Farms will have seasonal berries for sale, and Robbins Honey Farm will be selling local honey. Dao Lee Garden and Hmong Seattle Garden will have fresh hand-cut flower bouquets made on the spot.
Unique gifts from local artists, including jewelry, pottery, African art and more will be for sale, too. Find a full vendor list at the City of Lakewood website.
