If you’re looking to visit Mt. Rainier during Memorial Day weekend, bring your patience

National Park Service

Visitors to Mount Rainier National Park can likely expect “lengthy delays” at the southwest park entrance on State Route 706, according to The National Park Service. You can check Google Maps for traffic updates here, especially at the Nisqually entrance in the southwest corner of the park (orange/red lines indicate high traffic volume).

Visitors are encouraged not to block driveways or roads while waiting in line outside the park.

Because the weather is still chilly, some park roads and facilities are still closed for the hiking season. Sub-alpine areas may still be covered in snow and winter weather is possible, the Park Service tweeted Friday.
