Fire watch updates: here’s where to keep track of brush fires and other blazes today

On the busiest day of their year, firefighters throughout the South Sound are tackling blazes and brush fires as they happen. We’ll keep an eye on them throughout the day.

Tacoma

A brush fire near state Route 7 northbound at milepost 57.04 reported around 5 p.m. closed the on-ramp from 38th Street as of 5:11 p.m. It was reported clear at 5:40 p.m.

Gig Harbor

A reported brush fire on state Route 302 westbound at milepost 15.85 near Purdy Drive started a little after 2 p.m. It was cleared roughly thirty minutes later.

Federal Way

South King Fire put out a brush fire around noon. It was in a neighborhood along the BPA trail in the 1400 block of SW 351st. Witnesses and fire officials on the scene said fireworks caused it.
