Don’t swim or wade at this popular Tacoma beach for the time being, health officials say
People should avoid swimming and wading at Titlow Beach in Tacoma until further notice, according to the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.
The department issued a Marine Beach Warning Advisory on Friday morning after finding high levels of potentially harmful bacteria in water samples taken on July 17 and 19. Contact with the bacteria could increase the risk of gastrointestinal illness, the health department said.
The department has posted advisory signs at Titlow Beach and will continue to monitor bacteria levels in the water. The advisory will be rescinded when bacteria levels no longer pose increased health risks, according to a news release.
