Canoe Journey 2023 brings thousands to Muckleshoot

The annual tribal Canoe Journey and Protocol brought more than 10,000 Native Americans to the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe’s new event center southeast of Auburn for a week of celebration with music, dancing and food. Assistant chairman Donny Stevenson said the Paddle to Muckleshoot event “honors our warriors past and present” through a “celebration of canoe culture and the potlatch lifestyle.” The event is free and open to the public. It continues through Sunday at the Muckleshoot Pow Wow Grounds, 17300 SE 392nd Street, Auburn, Washington.
