NOTE: This story has been updated with new information including the identification of the motorcyclist.
A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday evening when he crashed into two vehicles on a Tacoma overpass and was ejected off his bike, landing on the surface street below, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Around 5 p.m., Travis B. Horton, 31, of Olalla, was speeding when he collided with a Mercedes sedan and a Ford pickup on the westbound state Route 16 ramp from southbound Interstate 5, said Washington State Patrol spokesperson Sgt. Doug Simmons.
Horton’s motorcycle then struck the left jersey barrier, catapulting him off the bike and the overpass, the WSP said. He landed on South Tacoma Way.
Parts of the ramp and South Tacoma Way were blocked during the investigation.
The unmanned motorcycle continued on I-5 and hit a third vehicle, the WSP said.
No other injuries were reported.
