Avoid East Valley Highway in Sumner, city says — a fallen tree is blocking traffic

UPDATE: The road is now open, according to the City of Sumner.

A fallen tree is blocking all lanes on the East Valley Highway in Sumner and is tangled in the power lines, the City of Sumner reported Saturday.

The tree is blocking all lanes on the Highway between the East Valley Access Road and Lake Tapps Parkway/ Stewart Road on the north end and Forest Canyon Road East on the south end.

East Pierce Fire & Rescue is on the scene as precaution, the city said in a tweet.

People are being asked to use alternative routes.
