Tacoma is in for a warm and mostly sunny weekend before cooler temperatures prevail heading into the week, with slight rain possible on Sunday night and again during the middle of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday’s high of nearly 77 degrees, according to the NWS, was forecast to be the warmest day in the area over the next week as high temperatures cool down into the low- to mid-60s over the next several days, including an expected mostly cloudy Labor Day.

“The cool weather continues through the holiday,” NWS meterologist Jeff Michalski said.

Michalski said that a weak weather system could bring a trace of precipitation into Tacoma on Sunday night but rainfall was forecast mainly on the coast or in the mountains -- the same for another system expected to move into the region Tuesday.

By Thursday, the outlook returns to mostly sunny and a weeklong high is forecast near 67 degrees on Friday.
