A 68-year-old pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle in southeast Pierce County and later died at an area hospital has been identified, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 9 p.m. Saturday, Jeffrey R. Dailey of Graham was crossing state Route 161, also known as Meridian Avenue East, near 196th Street Court East when troopers say he was hit by a southbound driver who left the scene.

Dailey later died at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma.

The State Patrol is still trying to identify the driver and the vehicle.

The driver faces felony hit-and-run charges.
