Tacoma police have launched a homicide investigation after a man died from gunshot wounds, the department announced.

About 2 a.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to the 5200 block of South Tacoma Way after a report of a person being shot.

They arrived to find a man who was shot multiple times in the chest.

He later died at the scene while being treated for his injuries by Tacoma Fire Department medics, according to police.

After the shooting, the male suspect fled from the scene, according to police, citing a witness at the scene.

The suspect is still at large, police say.
