One of the main fenders of the Hylebos bridge was damaged by a boat Friday morning.

The main fenders protect the bridge through the Tacoma Tideflats channel from boats.. The bridge’s fender, located off East 11th Street, performed its intended purpose during this incident, said the City of Tacoma on X.

The city said that the staff is assessing the damage but confirmed the bridge’s structure remains operational. No damage occurred to the bridge itself.
