High school student dead after single-car crash near Eatonville, deputies say

A 16-year-old boy died after the pickup he was driving went off the road and struck a tree near Eatonville on Monday.

Deputies responded to a single-car crash just after 1 p.m. in the 33300 block of Webster Road East where a full-size pickup went off the road and hit a large tree. Fire crews extricated the boy and took him to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup where he was pronounced dead, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

The boy was a student at Eatonville High School and had strong family ties to the community, the department reported.

Eatonville School District was notified of the incident.
