Update: Tacoma Police arrest suspect following investigation of woman’s death Saturday

UPDATE 5 P.M.: Tacoma Police said late Saturday afternoon that they arrested a 30-year-old man just before 1 p.m. for suspicion of murder in the first degree in connection with the woman’s death.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Tacoma Police are investigating a possible homicide Saturday morning in the city’s West End.

Fire personnel and police responded around 7:30 a.m. to a report of an unresponsive person in the 3900 block of North Pearl Street, just off the sidewalk. Officers began life saving treatment, but fire personnel later declared the adult female dead, Tacoma Police said in a statement.

Because the victim had what appeared to be life-threatening injuries, Tacoma Police are treating the death as a homicide, the department said.

As of 12 p.m., police had the northbound lanes of North Pearl Street blocked at North 37th Street.
