A 50-year-old motorcyclist died after colliding with a car in Frederickson on Wednesday evening.

Pierce County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a collision involving a motorcycle and car at 5:25 p.m. at 176th Street East and 50th Avenue East near Canyon Road. A passerby was providing first aid to the motorcyclist when deputies arrived. The man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later died, according to a Pierce County Sheriff’s Department news release.

According to witnesses, the motorcycle was traveling east on 176th Street East at high speed and splitting lanes. The motorcyclist ran the red light at 50th Avenue East and collided with the side of a car that was making a left turn, the release said.
