The weather has stayed cool and dry this Thanksgiving weekend in the South Sound, and forecasts say the conditions are here to stay into the beginning of next week.

Temperatures will climb to a high of 44 degrees Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. Fog was hanging over Puget Sound in the morning, with some reports of freezing fog south of the Sound, but forecasters say it will dissipate as temperatures climb in the afternoon for overall sunnier and warmer weather.

Sunday will be much of the same with mostly sunny weather and temperatures reaching the mid-40s, the NWS reports, after an overnight low of 30 degrees.

The unseasonably dry weather might make it the perfect holiday weekend to mosey to downtown Tacoma to watch the 78th annual Tacoma Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony. The National Weather Service’s Seattle office wrote on social media site X that if the weather stays dry until the start of December, it will be only the fourth time in 79 years that the last week of November is dry.

Dry weather will remain the norm at least through Wednesday, according to the NWS. Low temperatures will stay in the low 30s, with high temps in the mid-40s.

The next chance of rain will come Thursday, the last week of November, forecasts say. There’s also a chance for some snow Thursday night, and a greater chance of rain Friday.
