Man killed in Spanaway crash identified. Teenage driver still in hospital
A man who died after a 14-year-old driver crashed into his car on Sunday has been identified by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Christopher Hall, 50, died from multiple blunt-force injuries near the intersection of state Route 7 and 211th Street Court East, a news release said. Hall’s passenger, also 50, was injured and taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma.
The 14-year-old was driving in a stolen vehicle when he crashed. He was also injured and taken to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma, according to a previous News Tribune story.
As of Tuesday, the teenager was still in the hospital. Troopers were not able to confirm if Hall’s passenger is still in the hospital, Washington state trooper John Dattilo said.
On Sunday at about 2:55 a.m., Hall’s vehicle was headed south on state Route 7, south of Spanaway. The 14-year-old driver from Tacoma was headed in the same direction. Hall attempted to make a U-turn across all lanes of traffic and the teen crashed into him. Hall died at the scene, the story said.
No one was wearing a seat belt, the story reported.
Dattilo said troopers are investigating to determine who was responsible.
