Looking to find love in WA? New study says it’s home to ‘best city in America for singles’
Are you a Washingtonian and looking for love? Well, lucky for you, you live in a state that is home to some of the best cities in the country for singles to date. One of them even made the top of the list: Seattle.
A recent study by Wallethub ranked 182 cities around the country in terms of key indicators of dating-friendliness that ranged from the size of the population that is single, to the number of online dating opportunities, as well as the average price of a two-person meal.
The study listed four cities in Washington state in the rankings as among the best cities for singles in the country. Coming in at the very top of the list is Seattle, followed by Spokane at #44, Tacoma at #65 and Vancouver at #129.
Best cities for singles in America
The three main categories of the study used to determine the ranking of best cities for singles were economics, fun and recreation, and dating opportunities.
The top five best cities in America for dating, according to the study, are:
- #1 - Seattle, Washington
- #2 - Las Vegas, Nevada
- #3 - Denver, Colorado
- #4 - Atlanta, Georgia
- #5 - Austin, Texas
Why is Seattle the best city in the country for singles?
Seattle is the best city for singles due to its amount of attractions and places to meet other singles or to go out on dates.
“It is known for balancing bustling city attractions like the Space Needle and its music scene with plenty of outdoor activities like parks and beaches,” the Wallethub study states.
The study also mentions that Seattle is one of the best cities for singles looking to find a partner that is a high earner since the city is known to be a tech hub. “Seattle has one of the highest median annual household incomes in the country, at $70,308 (adjusted for the cost of living),” the study states.
Although Seattle was ranked as the best city for singles in the country, it was alternatively ranked the worst for the average beer prices, as well as one of the worst for restaurant meal costs.

Three more cities in Washington state were also ranked among the best cities for singles in the country.
