Seattle is home to one of the world’s best hotels, according to new Condé Nast ranking
One of the best hotels in the country and in the world is located right here in western Washington, according to a travel magazine.
Condé Nast Traveler, a luxury and lifestyle travel magazine, just published its 30th iteration of the best hotels and resorts in the world. The list contains 75 hotels and resorts and was curated by editors across four continents, according to the magazine.
Thompson Seattle, part of Hyatt, was named on Condé Nast Traveler’s 2024 Gold List. Thompson Seattle is a hotel located just a walk away from the famous Pike Place Market and a mile away from both the Olympic Sculpture Park and Elliot Bay.
The Condé Nast Traveler lists Thompson Seattle on their “Gold List” for its architectural details that feature an angular glass exterior, a floating staircase and floor-to-ceiling windows on the west side of the building that “make you feel like you’re floating over the Puget Sound.”
The Thompson Seattle offers a couple of options for guests to drink and dine at. The hotel has an all-day restaurant called the Conversation Kitchen & Bar and a rooftop bar called The Nest.
The Thompson Seattle unveiled two 1,000 square-foot penthouse suites in the summer of 2023 that feature large kitchens and a wine fridge as well as lots of appealing details such as a record player, local art and band posters, according to the magazine.
On top of the architecture and its location in the heart of Seattle, the Condé Nast Traveler praises the hotel staff.
“Thompson has the friendliest staff in town,” Jessica Voelker, a contributing writer at the Condé Nast Traveler writes. “ With an uncanny ability to remember every guest who books one of the hotel’s 152 rooms, the concierge crew always comes through with first-rate dining recs and offers to make reservations.”
Stays at the Thompson Seattle start at $269 per night.
Condé Nast Traveler also mentions the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver in nearby British Columbia on its 2024 gold list. The hotel nicknamed the Castle in the City underwent a five-year renovation project that was finished in 2019 and cost $75 million. Stays at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver start at $240 per night.
