A Tacoma man who was killed during a wreck on southbound I-5 near Lakewood has been identified, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 4:50 p.m. Saturday, Ismael H. Gonzalez Martinez was driving south on I-5, just south of 84th Street, according to State Patrol. Meanwhile, a 46-year-old Elma woman was driving in the same direction.

Troopers say the Elma woman struck his car during an improper lane change, triggering the two-car wreck. The Tacoma man died at the scene. His 46-year-old female passenger, also from Tacoma, was injured and taken to Madigan Army Medical Center.

The Elma woman also was injured and taken to St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood.

Troopers said I-5 was partially blocked for almost three hours following the crash. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, according to State Patrol.
