Looking for a change in work scenery this year? Maybe you’re tired of working a sedentary job that requires you to stare at your computer for eight or more hours, five days a week.

If this is you, then you’re in luck because Washington State Parks is currently hiring for hundreds of positions.

Washington State Parks is currently recruiting seasonal park aides and senior park aides to work in some of the state’s 140 parks. Other job opportunities range from park ranger to positions in construction and maintenance.

All full-time positions offer medical insurance, possible eligibility for student loan forgiveness, sick leave, paid holidays, and vacation leave. Temporary positions with Washington State Parks are also eligible for certain benefits such as vacation, sick leave and holiday pay.

Open park aide jobs with Washington State Parks

Washington State Parks is recruiting over 300 park aides and senior park aides to work from April through September. Park aide positions are available in diverse locations around the state such as in old-growth forests, Pacific Ocean beaches and around the Puget Sound and its islands.

Washington State Parks Park Aide

Type: Full-time, non-permanent

Where: San Juan area, Coulee Corridor area, Salish Foothills area, Millersylvania area, Whatcom bay area, Okanogan highlands area, Central Cascades area, Northern Shores area, Deception Pass, Long Beach area, Cascade Foothills area, Inland NW area, South Sound area, Central Whidbey area, Blue Mountain area, East Columbia Gorge area

Salary: $16.90 - $20.33, hourly

Description: Park Aides perform a variety of tasks at a state park, beach, or historical area. A typical work day may include anything from registering campers and collecting camp fees, to cleaning facilities, mowing lawns, or explaining park rules.

Qualifications: Must be a minimum of 17 years old and possess a valid unrestricted driver’s license. If your driver’s license is out of state, you will be required to show proof of a valid and current unrestricted driver’s license at the time of the interview.

Senior Park Aide- Statewide

Type: Full-time, non-permanent

Location: Statewide

Salary: $19.40 - $23.40 Hourly

Description: Senior Park Aides perform a variety of tasks at a State park, beach, or historical area. A typical work day may include anything from registering campers and collecting camp fees, to cleaning facilities, performing grounds maintenance and minor repairs on roads, trails, and campgrounds, but the specific duties will have some variation by park location.

Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old with a valid unrestricted driver’s license as well as 12 months of experience in building maintenance or grounds keeping, or performing semi-skilled/general carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work or six months of cumulative experience as a park aide or 12 months experience in a special employment program with a parks agency.

Description: Provides administrative assistance including support and oversight of daily administrative operations to the Visitor Protection and Law Enforcement (VPLE) program in direct support of the Program Manager and Program Specialist.

Description: The Park Ranger 1 is entrusted to perform a wide range of duties such being stewards, advisors, hosts, managers, caretakers and is also responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the park.

Salary: $40,512 - $53,964, annually

Description: Provide complex administrative support to departments within the Administrative Services Division, primarily for the Financial Services and Information Technology Departments. This position is required to use independent judgment, develop/implement work methods and manages program professional level assignments, complex and routine job assignments, and coordinates administrative tasks for the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Information Officer (CIO) to facilitate the smooth running of the office.

▪ Tribal Relations Management Analyst

Type: Full-time

Location: Tumwater

Salary: $72,552 - $97,596, annually

Deadline: Continuous

Description: Develop, manage, and implement tribal relations projects within Washington State Parks, serve as a liaison between state parks and tribal partners and provide consultation and tribal community engagement.
