East Pierce Fire crews were on the scene of a liquid chlorine spill on Tapps Island on Monday morning.

The spill occurred near the 19000 block of 36th Street East just outside of Bonney Lake. Fire crews were working to shut off power and water to the structure affected. One household evacuated as a result, according to the East Pierce Fire X account.

Regional hazmat resources were requested. People were asked to stay clear of the area, the post said.

As of 1:30 p.m., responders were able to enter the pump house and confirm that the chemical spill was isolated. Evacuation was lifted for affected households. The scene was turned over to the purveyors, an updated East Pierce Fire post said.
