This western WA city was ranked the second-best location in America for Valentine’s Day
The most romantic day of the year is less than a week away and for those trying to plan a memorable experience, one iconic Pacific Northwest city could be a great option.
A recent study by Wallethub compared and ranked 100 of the largest cities in the U.S. in terms of key indicators ranging from florists per capita, to forecast for precipitation and cost of a three-course meal for two.
The study ranked Seattle as the second-most romantic and cost-effective city to in the country to celebrate Valentine’s day.
According to the National Retail Federation, Americans are expected to collectively spend a record $14.2 billion on Valentine’s day gifts this year. Consumers are also expected to spend more money on jewelry, flowers, clothing and an evening out.
Although you don’t necessarily need to spend a lot of money to show your love, a night out filled with gifts can be inexpensive depending on where you live and on your budget.
Why is Seattle the second-best city for Valentine’s Day?
Seattle was ranked the second-best city in the country for Valentine’s Day due its high prevalence of affordable jewelry stores, restaurants and florists.
“Residents of the Emerald City also search for keywords relating to Valentine’s Day gifts, flowers, cards and chocolate more often than people in most other cities, which shows that they care about the holiday and want to make it special,” the Wallethub study states.
Seattle is also likely to have good weather on Valentine’s Day this year. According to the National Weather Service forecast for Wednesday, Feb. 14, it will be partly sunny with a high of about 48 degrees and a chance of rain throughout the day.
