Roads closed as firefighters put out structure fire in Puyallup neighborhood
Clouds of smoke were in the air of a Puyallup neighborhood as firefighters put out a house fire Wednesday morning.
Police and fire units were dispatched to 10th Avenue Southeast at 10:22 a.m., according to a Puyallup Police Department spokesperson.
The fire has caused the closure of 10th Avenue Southeast between Meridian and 7th Street Southeast, according to the Puyallup Police Department on X.
The fire is now under control, but the streets remain closed. The homeowner was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
2:50 p.m. update: The roadway has reopened, PPD said on X.
It was reported that the homeowner was working on a car, which suffered a gas leak and ignited. No one else was in the home at the time of the fire, according to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue.
