Power outage affects Tacoma, Fircrest, University Place
A power line fire Sunday evening turned out the lights for several thousand Tacoma Power customers.
The utility reported via social media about 6:30 p.m. that power was out in parts of Tacoma’s West End, Fircrest and University Place.
Workers later determined that a fire on a power line on Sixth Avenue was the culprit.
The utility reported around 8:30 via Facebook and Twitter that power had been restored.
“Once again, we are amazed by the appreciation and patience our customers show at times like these. Thanks for being so cool!” the Facebook post said.
The utility asks customers to report power outages by calling 253-502-8602.
