A van carrying longshore workers crashed aboard a vehicle cargo ship docked at the Port of Tacoma Tuesday afternoon, sending five workers to local hospitals, according to the Tacoma Fire Department.

According to fire department spokesperson Joe Meinecke, the crashed occurred around 1:20 p.m. The five workers were reported in satisfactory condition.

The ship, called Liberty King, is a roll-on/roll-off used to carry wheeled cargo such as cars and trucks, according to port spokesperson Graham Johnson. The ship was docked at the East Blair One terminal.

According to vesserfinder.com, the 656-feet-long Liberty King arrived at the port on Tuesday. It’s registered in the Marshall Islands.

The terminal is operated by the Northwest Seaport Alliance.
